NY International FC: We Are Going Up!
This is What Promotion Looks Like
NY International are on their way up to the first division of the NY Cosmopolitan League and along the way are traveling to London for friendlies, celebrating the life and legacy of one of their own through a 5K, and kicking off their first every charity tournament to combat food insecurity in the city.
“One Club Three Teams.” NY International FC earned their way up to Division One of the Cosmo League, which has had pro/rel in place well before the idea was publicly mentioned by other, national leagues. “Promotion is a very validating experience for our club. We are convinced that a community club, a cosmopolitan club, an international club that welcomes all, based in the heart of NYC can have a positive impact both on and off the field. Promotion to D1 is one of many reasons why our 2025/26 season was successful.”
Before NYIFC get to the 2026/27 APSL season, they have a big summer ahead of them. First up the club flies to London on the 17th of July to put the “international” into international friendly, when they face Bishop Stortford Swifts FC. The following day, the lads from New York take on the renown London-based community club Clapton CFC.
On the same day, back home in Astoria, NY, their Move for Davide 5K event takes place, “In order to continue our commitment to uplift the life and legacy of our dear friend and teammate Davide Giri, we will have the 5th annual 5k for Davide on July 18th at 9am in Astoria. This time and date is important because our friendly with Clapton kicks off at 10am, so immediately after our Move for Davide 5k event, we are going to Rivercrest for our watch party.”
Nick went on to say “Our match will be live streamed on YouTube so all are welcomed to Move for Davide, mindfully, from wherever they find themselves on the 18th and then follow our friendly, which is an authentic celebration of international friendship and camaraderie. Having the 5k for Davide on the 18th is another example of how we continue to weave Davide into club.”
The biggest club in New York isn’t done there, they continue to do more for their community by partnering with EV Loves NYC to host the first annual Mutual Aid Cup to benefit the organization, a 501c3 non-profit founded by friends striving to end food insecurity in NYC. “This seven a-side co-ed fundraising tournament being held on July 25th is spearheaded by one of our exceptional athletes, Mike Rowley.”
“Although the league shuts down for a few weeks, our athletes continue to train, as well as volunteer and fundraise for EVNYC. Regardless of the month, we remain very active in the community. There is much work to be done.”
