PORTLAND, OR - Valle Verde FC made their way up to Portland on Saturday, June 27th to attempt to win the Oregon Division, knock out Deportivo Rose City, and exact some sort of revenge. The team from the Eugene/Springfield area blew away the Salem Panthers, 5-0, just a week before in the Division Semis and were looking to earn a trip to the national playoffs. Back in April, Portland’s DVO Rose City made the trip south and earned all three points, winning 2-1.

With a chance to get to the Round of 32 on the line, Valle Verde were hoping to make the big show in just their second full season in the league. Kevyn Montano, Rogelio Rodriguez, and Dustin Corea weren’t interested in giving the visitors even a glimmer of hope and put it to bed, 3-1, before the final whistle blew. Valle Verde will have to get their revenge once the UPSL’s fall season kicks off in a month or so.

Pacific Northwest-based photographer Jay Ortiz captured the affair at the Eastside Timber Complex in Portland and was kind enough to share his photos with us. DVO Rose City went on to beat Bellevue Athletic of Washington (2-0) in the Round of 32, then knocked out Valley 559 in the Round of 16 (4-3), finally, Deportivo Rose City got past Next Level (2-1) in the Quarters to earn a trip to Los Angeles for the UPSL National Finals. They face Central Kansas United on Friday.
