Who Are Ya!: Rochester FC Minnesota

October 13, 2025 by Joshua Duder

Started as a grassroots community-based soccer club, Rochester FC has grown to serve the children, men, and women of their corner of Minnesota. Their bright and colorful badge stands out nearly as much as their talented players and when we wanted to know more, co-founder Midhat Mujic was happy to answer our questions.

Tell us how Rochester FC got its start?
Rochester FC was founded in 2018 by Midhat Mujic and Muharem Dedic with the vision of fostering talent and bringing people together, and over the years, the club has grown into a premier soccer organization that support both pre-professional and youth competitive teams. We are a passionate and community-driven soccer club dedicated to providing opportunities for players of all ages to develop their skills, embrace the spirit of competition and celebrate the beautiful game. At Rochester FC, we believe soccer is more than just a sport - it's a way to build character, forge lasting friendships and inspire our community. Our dedicated coaching staff and front office staff ensure that every player receives the highest level of instruction and support. Whether you're looking to compete at the highest levels or simply enjoy the game, we have a place for you.

Tell us about your badge and colors – how does it connect to the community?
always focused on creating something that represents, Rochester, Minnesota and our owners.

What league or leagues does your club participate in and why did you choose those to join?
We’re proud to be involved in youth leagues, UPSL, and USL, as each plays a vital role in creating development pathways for all players. The leagues we participate in offer valuable opportunities to support player growth and progression. UPSL has been outstanding in our division, and Amer has been a fantastic partner throughout. Competing in the USL, widely regarded as the top amateur level, allows us to showcase our talent on one of the most competitive stages available.

Many clubs choose to sell hats, scarves or replica kits - how does your club keep the lights on and cover its league costs?
How can interested people support you? We’re fortunate to have incredible sponsors who support both our club and the families within it. To further engage our community, we offer a variety of merchandise including t-shirts, sweatshirts, scarves, hats, and more. You can browse and purchase available items directly from our website: www.rochester-fc.com.

How did you finish last year? What are the goals for this season?
USL League Two (Men’s Team) – Heartland Division

        • Final Position: 4th place

        • Record: 7 wins, 0 draws, 5 losses

        • Points: 21

        • Goals For / Against: 24 / 16

        • Goal Difference: +8

USL W League (Women’s Team) – Heartland Division

        • Final Position: 4th place

        • Record: 3 wins, 1 draw, 8 losses

        • Points: 10

        • Goals For / Against: 12 / 19

        • Goal Difference: -7

      • UPSL Premier Division: Our local athletes delivered strong performances throughout the season, successfully securing their place in the Premier Division.

      • UPSL Division 1: Our U17 boys showed great resilience and skill, competing well against tough opponents and maintaining their position in the division.

      • UPSL Women’s Team: Our women’s team made it to the playoffs and demonstrated impressive effort and competitiveness against high-caliber teams.

How do you participate in, or give back to your community?
We’re proud to host free soccer camps for youth players, made possible through partnerships with local businesses that help us create meaningful opportunities and accessible training sessions. Over 70% of the youth athletes in our club are scholarship recipients, reflecting our commitment to inclusivity and support. We actively collaborate with the Rochester School System by participating in school events, reading to young children, and engaging with them during recess. Additionally, we support the Ronald McDonald House through financial contributions and ongoing partnership efforts.

If there were one or two teams, within a 100 miles of you, to play a friendly against – who would you play and why?
If we could play a friendly against one or two teams within 100 miles, Minnesota United FC (MNUFC) would be at the top of our list. As an MLS club, MNUFC represents the highest level of soccer in our region, and exposing our players to that caliber of competition aligns perfectly with our mission to challenge and elevate their development. Playing against a team of that stature would be an incredible learning experience and a source of inspiration for our athletes.
