UPSL Semi Finals and Final Set

August 03, 2021 by Joshua Duder

The UPSL Semifinals and Final are set for the weekend of August 6th - 8th, with back-to-back playoffs on the Friday and the Third-Place match as well as the Final on Sunday. Both Semifinals will be played at LA Harbor College Stadium and the Final will be on Sunday, August 8th, 3:00 pm, at Championship Soccer Stadium in Orange County Great Park. There will be a third-place match earlier that day, at noon (PST) You can catch it all on ELEVEN Sports

National Semifinal One

East Valley United Pro vs Boise Cutthroats

The Boise Cutthroats, have three tight playoff wins in a row; 2-1 over Kongo FC, 3-2 over Club El Azul, and then defeated Capital City SC 2-1 to advance to the UPSL Semi Finals. While they finished midtable in the regular season, they have really put together a solid run of form and should prove to be a challenge for East Valley United Pro. The Arizona team will have a shorter distance to travel and have every intention of putting up a fight. They outscored opponents by 24 goals in all competitions this season – shut out Southwest FC in the Round of 32, beat Escondido 3-2 in the Round of 16, then defeated a very good CAL Fc team 3 goals to 1 in the quarterfinals. This matchup is definitely one for the neutrals and I expect it to be tasty.

National Semifinal Two

New York Contour United vs Florida Tropics

New York Contour kept up their remarkable run of form, shutting out a usually free-flowing MPLS City2 team, 2-0. This comes after beating up Mass United Rush 4-0 in the round of 16 and 4-1 over Lynchburg FC in the Round of 32. The NY team will take its playoff +9 goal difference and undefeated record to California to play against the Florida Tropics SC. The Lakeland, Florida team, who finished second in their own conference during the regular season, have also advanced through some close calls – but showed that when push comes to shove, they can beat anybody. They went up against Kalonji Pro-Profile in the Quarterfinals, a team who had a +10 goal difference in the playoffs and were undefeated all season, and the Tropics took the W to the bank.
