SF Glens Look to Play Spoilers in WPSL NorCal Division Finale

June 25, 2026 by Joshua Duder

The WPSL NorCal Central Valley Division Rundown

The Glens won’t make the WPSL Playoffs this year - they’ll go into their final game at home this weekend at peace with that. However, they have a chance to really shake up the playoff picture with a win against rivals SF Nighthawks.

Both clubs chalked a win last night; Glens in their penultimate home game vs San Ramon - Angellinne Dayana Abellana bagged a brace and the defense pitched a shutout. It was a great performance, with two goals before the first 30 minutes were up and a great team effort to hold on for all three points. That was San Ramon’s final game of the year and they’re stuck on 10 points in the table while the win brings the Glens up to 8 points.

That’s two wins in a row for the ladies in Green and too bad the season is ending this weekend, just when they were finally getting some momentum. But… there is one game left and they can finish with their heads held high. They just have to knock off the number one team in the division, their City rivals, the San Francisco Nighthawks.

The two faced off earlier this month, on June 7th, when Nighthawks beat them off three second-half goals; a brace by Isabella Flocchini and a singular effort from Sulma Plancarte. That was the Nighthawks third win in a row to start what looked like a fantastic season… until they ran into the Lamorinda United buzzsaw and lost back-to-back games, home and away. Along the way, Lamorinda United also hacked down Fresno Freeze 5-1 and San Ramon 5-1; with four wins and three draws, the ladies from Orinda finished their regular season in first place of the NorCal Central Valley Division.

After losing two in a row, SF Nighthawks looked at the rest of their calendar and saw three road games to close it out. They didn’t give up - they beat Fuego on the road behind a brace from Sydney Grundland-Lanuza and two days later, put five past The Town FC. Sulma Plancarte got the hatty while Isabella Flocchini and Rebecca Lopez each bagged a goal.

This return to form for SF Nighthawks saw them leapfrog Lamorinda AND the aforementioned Fuego Femenil - even on points, but with a superior GD and a match in hand. They visit SF Glens in the final match of the season, at SF Glens Stadium on Treasure Island, kickoff is at 4:30pm Pacific Time. Should Nighthawks win, they guarantee Lamorinda United do not win the division. But there is another game, later that evening in Fresno between last place Freeze and Fuego. There are few interesting permutations.

  • If Nighthawks win by more goals than Fuego win by, then Nighthawks win the division.

  • If Nighthawks draw and Fuego draw, then Nighthawks win the division.

  • If Fuego win and Nighthawks win, but Fuego win by 4 more goals than Nighthawks win by, then Fuego win the division.

  • If Fuego win and Nighthawks draw or lose, then Fuego win the division.

  • If both Fuego and Nighthawks lose, with Nighthawks losing by 3 goals or more, then Lamorinda win the division.
