ONE: Players on the move

Its the silly season all around the world and USL League One is no different ! Forward Madison moving a few players on should be no surprise after finishing two spaces off the bottom, but the Mingos seeing off Mathesus Cassini might be. The Sao Paulo, Brazil native - whose former teams include Palermo of Serie B as well as Santos and Fluminense of the Brazilian leagues - showed a ton of promise with his 5 goals and 5 assists from 26 appearances. “Matheus is a player our staff enjoyed watching last season and he posed problems when trying to analyze how to contain him," Tormenta FC Head Coach Ian Cameron said. The league doesn’t list any compensation for the move - it might be that an opportunity to move to the champions simply could not be refused!

Oddly, it seems that the team who were runners-up in the league are having a fire-sale and we see Villalobos move to expansion side One Knoxville SC; Timmy Mehl (who was on loan from Tampa Bay Rowdies of the USLC) heads to Forward Madison; DJ Denton moves to North Carolina FC; and the dynamic Brazilian winger Rafa Mentzingen joins him.

Kaelon Fox was announced as expansion club Lexington SC’s first signing; Jan-Erik Leinhos moves from USLC Champions Louisville FC to One Knox SC; and another year, another club for Mikey Maldonado as he takes his talents to join a handful of new players in North Carolina FC. We’ll be sure to bring you more moves as we see them.
