While there are certainly much more serious issues to discuss in lower league soccer, one of the more fun aspects of supporting the leagues we love is taking a look at all the inventiveness and artistic inclination involved in branding. Logos, badges, crests… whatever you want to call them, every team has one and some are more unique than others. Last year we ran a contest involving 96 clubs and while, at the time, it seemed like we covered a lot of ground with that effort, it turns out that we left out more clubs than we included.

So, for 2021, we’re ramping it up and are going to rip through 324 teams in seven days to find a winner of the Second Annual Copa de Insignias. We will be excluding last year’s winners, as they will always stand as the inaugural champion, and there will be a lot of great badges to consider. The first four rounds will be completely selected at random using a randomizer app. Each round will see logos grouped by three, then re-entered into the randomizer to ensure there is no favoritism. Once the groups are boiled down to four clubs, the semi-final matchups will also be decided by the “Wheel” app.
