Brett's Indiana Soccer Update: August

August 04, 2025 by Joshua Duder

INDIANAPOLIS, IN. – Indy Men continue upward trajectory, Fort Wayne won the Valley Division again before falling to Flint City Bucks in the Central Conference Semis. An update on other Indiana teams from the MWPL & UPSL

Here is the August Update on the Indy Eleven, Fort Wayne FC and other Indiana soccer teams.

Indy Eleven Update

  • USL-C: July 5th vs Monterey Bay C, 3-0 Win

  • USL-C: July 12th vs Rhode Island FC, 1-0 Win

  • USL-C: July 18th at North Carolina FC, 2-4 Loss

  • Jägermeister / USL Cup: July 26th vs FC Tulsa, 2-1 Win

    July Record: 3-0-1

US Open Cup: Round of 32 (Eliminated)

USL Jager Cup: 3-1-0, 1 points, 1st Place Group 3. Into the Quarterfinals vs Greenville Triumph on August 20th.

USL Championship Record (W-D-L): 5-5-6, 20 points, 7th place East

The Indy Eleven had a great July. Winning 3 out of 4 matches, and winning all 3 home matches. The team’s only loss was to a really good North Carolina FC team in Cary. Momentum continues to build for this side, and the timing couldn’t have been better.

As the middle of the Eastern Conference continues to be an absolute fight, securing their spot in the USL-Cup’s Quarters shows this team is on track. A USL-Cup win is on this team’s mind, and a playoff spot is almost a certainty. 4th place isn’t too far away with Loudoun and Detroit City hitting a rough run of form - which Indy plays both in August. If Indy’s form continues, they should do what they can to win the USL-Cup (especially with Louisville and Charleston out) and fight for a home playoff spot.

Indy Eleven Men’s August Matches:

USL-C: August 2nd vs Tampa Bay (Block Party)

  • USL-C: August 9th at Detroit City FC

  • USL-C: August 16th at Loudoun United

  • USL-Cup Quarterfinals: August 20th vs Greenville Triumph

  • USL-C: August 23rd vs Miami FC (All Things Indiana Night)

  • USL-C: August 30th vs Louisville City (LIPAFC - Louisville Indianapolis Area Proximity Football Contest)

USL L2 August Results:

Fort Wayne FC (Valley Division)

  • Friendly: July 5th vs Lansing City: 5-0 Win

  • USL-L2: July 9th at Dayton Dutch Lions: 1-0 Win

  • USL-L2: July 12th vs Kings Hammer (Cincinnati): 4-0 Win

  • Central Conference Quarterfinals (in Flint): July 18th vs Midwest United: 3-2 OT Win

  • Central Conference Semis (in Flint) : July 20th vs Flint City Bucks: 2-0 OT Loss

July Results: 3-0-1
USL L2 Record (W-D-L): 9-1-2, 28 points
USL-League Two Valley Results:

USL-League Two Great Lakes Results:

Fort Wayne FC News

On July 15th, after winning USL-League Two’s Valley Conference, it was announced that in anticipation to the team’s move up to League One next year, have hired Oliver Gage as Sporting Director. Gage has a large swath of experience already in North American soccer.

Being a Director of Soccer at Loudon United from 23-25, Head of Football strategy for two teams in the Canadian Premier League from 22-23 including Vancouver FC, Director of Football for the Canadian Premier League’s launch and advisor for 7 teams, and finally was Head of Analysis and Technical Recruitment for MLS’ Houston Dynamo from 15-18.

Gage brings a wealth of experience in recruiting talent and building expansion sides, or working with a more constrained budget. This will prove to be vital in Fort Wayne wants to start their professional journey off right. On paper, this is a big higher for Fort Wayne.

Season ticket deposits can already be submitted here.

Other Results From Around the State

Midwest Premier League

Goshen City have won the MWPL’s Great Lakes West division! The already crowned champs, emphatically ended the regular season with a 7-0 win at home before lifting the trophy.

Goshen City ended the season with a 7-2-1 record, easily winning their division. If you like what the team wore, kits are now on sale for $39.99 and can be found here!

They went on to play the Cedars FC in the Great Lakes Conference Title game in which Goshen City won 2-1. Winning two trophies to cap off a great season in which Goshen always looked destined to do. Congratulations!

Fellow Indiana team 1927 Fort Wayne SC, wasn't quite able to repeat last season’s division title. Going 3-1-6 and finishing in 5th place.

UPSL

Southern Indiana FC went undefeated in league play (11-0-0) to take top spot in the KY-TN division. Southern Indiana would then lose to FC Leopards BGKY in the first round of the playoffs. Another Indiana team - Midwest Hooligans - finished in 3rd place with a 6-2-3 record.

Next we head to the Midwest Central - South where Lafayette’s Black Cat FC took 1st place with a 8-0-2 record. Black Cat would then lose to Round Lake Evolution FC in the Midwest Central playoff. Joined by Indiana United (5-1-4), ISAA Villarreal Academy (0-0-10), Fox United (1-0-9), and Allegiant FC Hammond (7-2-1). Allegiant also made the playoffs but lost in the first round to TBD FC.

To wrap up the UPSL, we head to the Ohio/Indy - South to find Southern Indiana Guardians FC (6-0-4) and Indy Gladiators (6-4-2). Both teams would end up losing in the 1st round of the playoffs.

No Indiana team made it past round 1 of the playoffs.

That’s it for August’s Update as every team outside the Indy Eleven Men appeared to have wrapped up their seasons. This means college soccer is on the horizon. Please tune back in for September's update.

With Fort Wayne’s jump up to League One coming next year, should I keep this all Indiana approach or separate the professional clubs into more specific newsletters? I.e an Indy Eleven Update, Fort Wayne Update then a All Indiana Update with summaries of Fort Wayne and Indy. Let me know your thoughts or ideas!
