Protagonist Soccer's 2026 World Cup Kit Preview
Rating the 2026 Men's World Cup Kits
As the 2026 Men’s World Cup looms, it is time we start to look at the most important part of the tournament - the kits. In this article, I will be reviewing all the kits for the 2026 teams who have qualified. I will separate these by federation and give my overall thoughts on each. As of now, not every nation has officially released kits as of December 5th and will not be talking about any leaks (even if they look amazing).
Up first, AFC!
AFC/OFC
Australia - Home Kit - 8/10 Away Kit - 9/10
The Socceroos may have one of the best kit combinations for the 26 World Cup. The Home kit has the traditional yellow you would expect, but throw in a neon green and lime yellow in a Zig Zag pattern - yes please. The Away is more subtle in comparison. Going with a black base with lime cuffs and collar, the main attraction here are the pattern on the sides. They are colorful with the lime, pink and yellow colors.
Jordan - Home Kit - 2/10 Away Kit - 2/10 Third Kit - 1/10
The Nashama has a more basic overall look from Kelme. An all-white Home with red cuffs and collar, an all-red Away with black accents and a Black-Edition Third. It’s simple and nothing else to them. Moving on.
Japan - Home Kit - 7/10
Japan is known for having some fun kits throughout the years. Their 2026 Home Kit is sticking with tradition. Inspired by the “Beyond the Horizon” theme and representing the team’s ambition to surpass past achievements and to reach new heights. The wave-pattern on the chest is well done with the Ash Blue to compliment the main Japan Blue. With some red and white accents in the collar, sleeves and cuffs, this is a fine edition and will look good on the pitch.
Qatar - Home Kit - 5/10
Sticking with their traditional Maroon colored Home kit, Adidas decided to add in a zig-zag down the middle - this appears to be Adidas’ thing for 2026. There is nothing much else to it but it isn’t as basic as it could be. The White trim helps make it pop.
Saudi Arabia - Home Kit - 9/10
The Saudi really wanted to do something different with what normally would be just a Green kit. They decided to go with Green with Purple. The pattern is just simply amazing and so unique. It reminds me of a fractal pattern - reminder we use Arabic Numerals today and could be a nod to that. Add in one of my favorite crests for a country, and this will be remembered.
Uzbekistan, New Zealand, Iran, Korea Republic all are TBD.
AFC/OFC
Algeria - Home Kit - 7/10
The Home kit is a simple White with Green and Red accents - this will always look good. Throw in a fading pattern in Red on the front, plus everything being centered in the middle equals a solid kit for Algeria. I simply want one just so I can feel that pattern.
Tunisia, South Africa, Senegal, Morocco, Ghana, Egypt, Côte d’Ivoire, Cabo Verde are TBD
CONCACAF
Mexico - Home Kit - 10/10
What did you expect from Mexico on this one? The last time Mexico hosted the World Cup we got one of the most iconic kits in history and I believe we got another one. Using a more modern approach to the Aztec inspired design from the 1998 World Cup in France. This is just chalk full of details. From the “Somos Mexico” on the back, to stitching and every detail of the design - this has to be the best kit next summer.
USA, Canada, Curaçao, Haiti and Panama are TBD
CONMEBOL
Argentina - Home Kit - 9/10
The reigning World Cup champions are sticking to their traditional home look - Light Blue vertical stripes. For 2026, they added in a nice contrasting Dark Blue number, cuff, accents and collar. I am always a big fan of making colors pop out like this, so I really enjoy this. Messi’s side will be once again, one of the better looking sides next summer.
Colombia - Home Kit - 6/10
Colombia is also staying with what works for them in their unforgettable look - Yellow with Red and Blue accents. With a subtle butterfly pattern woven into the design, this kit just looks better the more you look at it. Other than that subtle detail, I wanted more from this kit.
Ecuador, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay are TBD
UEFA
Austria - Home Kit - 4/10
This gets the job done if the requirements were this - Red base with Black sleeves. Puma did that and then added a very little amount of White accent in the cuffs. Way too basic.
Belgium - Home Kit - 7/10
Going with a more subtle version of flames this time around - the Red Devils are once again looking good. The classic Belgian colors of Red, Black and Yellow work again. The flame pattern throughout looks great and isn’t too subtle to miss. Everything looks sharp and fits together.
Germany - Home Kit 10/10
The Germany + Adidas partnership ends on another classic. Utilizing a tweaked approach to the all-time great from 1988 - I really like how this turned out. They were able to grab what made that 88 kit unique with that V-like pattern but simplified it. This just is another sharp classic kit from Adidas for their nation. Can’t say much else.
Portugal - Home Kit 6/10
Ronaldo’s team won’t be looking as good as Messi next summer. With a subtle wave pattern to the traditional Red with Green accents, this kit looks good (especially for Puma’s efforts for 2026). This is just one of those looks that doesn’t need much more and if they added more, it wouldn’t have added anything to the overall design.
Scotland - Home Kit - 5/10
The Scots will be donning their classic Navy Blue in a World Cup for the first time since 1998. I am never a fan of center badged kits for club teams, but when national teams do it, it turns out tremendously better. Everything aligns in the middle, the White accents pop, and overall gives me a solid classy vibe.
Spain - Home Kit - 3/10
Not a big fan of this kit. Yes it uses the traditional Red, Blue, and Yellow we come to expect but the vertical pinstripes just don’t work for me. Can’t describe it, but it looks too busy to me.
Switzerland - Home Kit - 2/10
As I have alluded to earlier, I don’t think Puma put their best foot forward on this. This is simply a Red kit with a short White side stripe. Expected any amount of detail. Unlike the Austrian kit, Black sleeves cannot save this kit.
Croatia, England, France, Netherlands, and Norway are TBD
