Bay State Soccer League Week 15

Division 1

Brandeis FC Legends vs Southie FC

Currently in the relegation playoff spot Brandeis FC Legends picked up a big 3 points in a 2-1 victory over Southie FC. The fate of their season could rest heavily on their next upcoming match against The Broadway FC.

Southie who have been 0-12-1 in their last 13 matches are now 6 points into automatic relegation with just 3 games left.

Warehouse Gunners vs Kendall Wanderers A

Kendall Wanderers took care of business 4-2 and are staying in the title race ahead of their massive match against GPS Omens. Should Kendall now win against GPS Omens they would 2 points back from the title with a game in hand.

The safety of the Warehouse Gunners now shirks to just 3 points but a win in either of their upcoming games against The Broadway FC and Southie FC would all but ensure staying in Division 1.

First Wave FC vs Washington Square FC

Still just 3 points back First Wave FC continued its push on 1st place with a 2-0 win against Washington Square FC.  However having lost the first tiebreaker to GPS Omens(head-to-head), the series of events that lead to First Wave winning Division 1 are still very narrow.

5 points into safety, with games in hand Washington Square FC aren’t in any trouble yet. However with one of the toughest remaining schedules, they are still leaving the door open for trouble to come their way.

GPS Omens vs The Broadway FC

A 10-man GPS Omens kept the team on track with a 2-1 win over The Broadway FC and continue to control their BSSL destiny. The Broadway FC meanwhile is running out of time. If they lose their next match against Brandeis, the chances of them staying in Division 1 will be practically 0%.

MIT vs Eagles

Eagles beat MIT 4-2. Both teams have by now secured their spot in Division 1 next year but only have an outside chance at a winning the league.

BSSL McKenzie Cup

GPS Omens vs Kendall Wanderers

The final of the BSSL McKenzie Cup will take place tomorrow between Division 1 title contenders, GPS Omens and Kendall Wanderers. GPS Omens will be coming into the match slightly stronger having won each of its previous round games by at least 3 goals. In its own path to the final Kendall Wanderers defeated likely to be promoted sides Alleghany FC(D3N) and Providence City FC(D2), the former on penalties.

The cup final will be played at Harry Della Russo Stadium in Revere at 8pm.

Division 2

Providence City FC vs Merrimack Valley United FC

Merrimack Valley United beat Providence City in a 2-1 game that could have gone either way. The win puts Merrimack Valley firmly in 3rd with 5 points separating them from both 2nd and 4th. While still in 1st place, Providence City is now facing it’s worse run of form all season with just 1 point out of the last 3 games.

Division 3N

Alleghany FC vs Boston City FC II

Boston City II beat division leaders Alleghany FC handily 4-1. Taking control 15 minutes in BCFC II would extend their lead to 3-0 by the end of the first half. Trading goals in the second half Boston City kept Alleghany FC from ever getting close. While still unlikely to take automatic promotion from Alleghany FC, the win keeps the Lions in 2nd place by a point and with a game in hand.

Division 3S

Lusitana vs Boston Rovers

Lusitana defeated the Boston Rovers 3-0 this past Saturday. The victory keeps Lusitana right on the tail of 1st place Groton House, just 3 points off automatic promotion. Should the the teams be tied on points at the end of the season Lusitana would almost certainly advance on goal differential.
